Blogging Guidelines
As a class we discussed the importance of being safe when online and the meaning of digital citizenship.
Here are some guidelines that 4J came up with together to use when we are online. Although our blogs are password protected, it is important for us to practice responsible digital citizenship.

Here are some guidelines that 4J came up with together to use when we are online. Although our blogs are password protected, it is important for us to practice responsible digital citizenship.
- We will use appropriate grammar and write in full sentences. We will not use texting language.
- We will not give out personal information. We keep private information private. We will use only our first names and never share emails, addresses, or phone numbers.
- We will always get permission to post photos of ourselves or our classmates.
- We have been taught that not all songs, videos and pictures we find on the internet are allowed (or legal) to be shared. We will use the safe image searches and websites we have been shown to share images in our work.
- We will use a positive, supportive and respectful tone when posting ideas and making comments.
- We will share our knowledge with our teacher and classmates.
- We will stay on topic, complete our tasks and use our blogs for schoolwork and to share our learning.

Comment Guidelines
Making comments is a great way to respond to posts and new ideas, it is also a way to share your opinions about what you have experienced or read. Always try to make 'highway' comments and not 'dead end' comments. Please follow these guidelines when commenting on our class blog or another student blog.
Remember your comment represents yourself and our class. You are encouraged to always put your best effort into your writing and ideas.
- We will set up our comments in a letter form. You comment should begin with a salutation or greeting. For example "Dear Ms. Rees," or "Dear 4J," or "Dear Sally,"
- Leave 2 spaces after your greeting.
- Your comments, just like your blog posts, should be on topic and appropriate.
- Your comments, just like your blog posts, should be written in full sentences with the correct punctuation, spelling and grammar. Remember to capitalize letters where appropriate, especially at the beginning of sentences. You only need to use one punctuation mark. You DO NOT need to say "I think your Nile Crocodile habitat diorama is so creative!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' When you could say "I think your Nile Crocodile habitat is so creative!"
Remember your comment represents yourself and our class. You are encouraged to always put your best effort into your writing and ideas.
